Humble Beginnings

The story of A Special Place began with a grandmother's love.

When Tanya Ferguson welcomed her first grandchild, she became even more passionate about creating a safe, nurturing environment where children could learn, grow, and thrive. Family and friends often referred to her home as "A Special Place" because it was a place filled with love, learning, creativity, and support for every child who walked through the door.

Inspired by her desire to provide high-quality early childhood education, Tanya opened A Special Place Academy, a home-based preschool program dedicated to helping young learners build strong academic and social foundations. What started as a small program quickly grew as more families sought a caring, structured environment that emphasized education, character development, and individualized attention.

As the preschool continued to flourish, parents began asking for additional educational opportunities beyond the preschool years. Recognizing the need for a seamless learning experience, Tanya expanded her vision and founded ASP2 STEAM Academy, extending educational services to students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Today, ASP2 STEAM Academy continues to build on the same values that inspired its beginnings: providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, and achieve their fullest potential through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

What began as one grandmother's dream has grown into a thriving educational community dedicated to empowering the next generation of learners and leaders.
